Day 6…Bovec to Lake Bled, Slovenia
We drove 1.5 hours to Lake Bled to our hotel and again splurged and paid the extra $60 to get the water view and we DID NOT regret it. Look at this balcony view, it’s unreal! that is the castle in the background. The later pics are me from the top of the castle, so you can see both views of this splendid lake.
This hotel was my favorite and definitely the nicest of the entire stay. It was very affordable as well, roughly $200/night for these gorgeous views. Download the pdf to find out where it was!
The hotel had an indoor and a few outdoor pools/hot tubs. It was a tad chilly though, but I imagine in the summer the views from the pool would be amazing.
We walked down the street from our hotel and rented some road bikes. We bring our own pedals and bike shoes to clip in for these excursions, but obviously you could also rent bikes and use their pedals just to ride around Lake Bled. The path around Lake Bled is about 3 miles around and there were many bikers and walkers on that path.
We decided to ride into some of the neighboring towns to just explore without an agenda.
There was truly beautiful scenery in every direction.
Here is the church in the middle of the lake, called Church of Mary the Queen. You could rent paddle boards or you could pay to ride in a gondola type boat for $12 which they give you 30 minutes at the Church, or you could rent your own row boat for even less than $12 and take your own time visiting the church.
We captured a beautiful rainbow above the castle, but it’s slightly hard to see.
