Day 2….Grindelwald, Switzerland
Day 2 - We hit the road early to get a head start - around 8 AM and drove 1.5 hours to Grindelwald….the most magical drive in the world!!!
You literally drive by a crystal blue lake every 10 minutes, it’s surreal!
Stopping to eat a quick breakfast on the way!
Super excited about our upgrade on the car rental. There wasn’t a SUV that could be returned into Germany so we ended up getting an upgrade and a slightly smaller car to fit 4 large humans and 4 large suitcases!
We arrived at Grindelwald - the most Magical Place Alive - even better than Disney World!
I totally recommend an activity on this mountain! I have done it twice now! You can download an my pdf in the store to get all the info!
My parents taking the cable car up…my dad looks a bit nervous. The ride up is roughly 10 minutes.
When you get to the top you choose the Bachalpsee trail which is roughly 1.5 miles to a freezing cold lake with beautiful views and cows with bells around their neck everywhere!
The sounds from all of the cow bells was amazing, you would think it would get annoying, but it really didn’t!
Cows cows everywhere…..
We found the lake and I taught my mom how to put your legs up when you jump so it looks like you can jump higher than 2 inches off the ground.
Really one of the most easy hikes with the most spectatucular views….
When you get back from the hike, you can take a walk all the way around this mountain to get to the cafe/restaurant area.
We made it back just about the same time my husband was able to ride his bike up the mountain! He rented his bike right at the base of the mountain, dropper post bike (which he said he would have died without having this feature on the way down the mountain) but no reservations were needed, he just walked right into the shop and was able to get the bike in 20 minutes!
Always need a beer after a tough bike climb and to get courage to ride down the mountain.
While Brandon took his bike down, we hiked the first leg back down the mountain - You could entirely take the cable car back down if you wanted, but we wanted to take the slow way down and enjoy the views!
Hike, carts and then electric scooter down the mountain. It takes about two to three hours to get down if you take your time. We stopped at each spot and had a drink to slow down and take the scenery in.
Dad and I enjoying some Swiss beer! It was an amazing day and again I couldn’t recommend a better way to spend it!
