Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik has its own airport if you want to make it easy and fly right into it. But if you are crazy like we are, you can drive there from Kotor, Montenegro (2 hours) or from Zagreb, Croatia (6 hours).

Dubrovnik was our favorite spot in Croatia. The mountains were the highest, the old town was the most beautiful and even the hotel was our favorite!

Every single room has a view of the sea, so no one was feels left out! Even the free breakfast had a view. Check out the itinerary in the Store for hotel details!

Even though the air temperature was in the 60s, every morning there would be a few brave souls swimming in the water right off our hotel. There were ladders to lead you down or these cliffs you could walk down to access the sweet salty Adriatic Sea water!

The walk to Old Town was about 15 minutes down hill, this is where we went for dinner each night. It felt like there were hundreds of different restaurants to choose from and so much people watching. The architecture was incredible!

There were lots of activities to choose from…

A. Climb or take a Gondola up Mt. Syd

B. Boat rides to Blue Caves or Lagoons

C. Winery tours

D. Day trips to different islands

E. Kayak or Paddleboard rentals

F. But we always choose F, Rent Bikes.

This was our bike guide…the Mountain Biking Macedonia National Champion, Aleksandar Gorgievski!!! Pretty rad!

Water everywhere! We road along the beautiful coast the entire time.

They also have day trips to Plitvice National Park. We drove here on our way back to Zagreb to the airport. It was about 30 minutes out of the way for us, but definitely worth the stop! The paths you walk on were floating in the water with no rails on either side. I said, “They would definitely have rails if this was in the US”. I can’t imagine people don’t ever fall in the water, but it would probably feel good on the hot summer days to take a dip!

We ran into a couple from Minnesota that was visiting Croatia and Slovenia for a month and they said this National Park was there favorite from their entire trip. I did think it was beautiful, but to me it didn’t bat an eye against Glacier, Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Park!

However, Croatia and Montenegro as a whole blew me away in beauty. I highly recommend these countries to visit. We did our trip for roughly $2700 not including flights and it was pretty affordable once you arrive. Food and drinks were much cheaper than the US prices we were accustomed to. Plus, if you go in the Spring or Fall, the hotel rates are extremely low. Let me know if you have extra questions. Check out the itinerary in the Store for more info! Thanks!! Kate
