Sun Valley, Idaho
Where to camp in Sun Valley?!!? We stayed at Corral Creek Canyon Camping which was about 6 miles from downtown, a very doable distance with a stop or two! This was dispersed camping so there were no hook ups, just a ring for a fire but it was in a perfect scenery with mountains almost in all directions of our RV.
The population of Sun Valley is 1,814 people! There was little to no traffic! This is us on our way to the city, the great part is we didn’t have to be on a busy road, we were able to ride on a bike trail the entire way, so I didn’t have to freak out the whole time about road safety with the kids. But honestly only a couple cars passed us while we were on this bike path. As you can see, not a person in sight!
We finally made it into the beautiful city and ate at Warfield Distillery and Brewery. https://drinkwarfield.com/ You can’t beat these rooftop restaurant views. Again, if you are looking for a mountain town less traveled, this city is for you.
We biked around the city exploring a bit, playgrounds, pump tracks - Ketchum Bike Park, ice cream and then made our way back. We followed the Big Wood River most of the way and we're able to stop and play for a bit.
This campground was amazing in the sense that we were almost completely alone, we didn’t have any neighbors or other campers around us. The kids were able to walk into the woods to find firewood to burn and long sticks for smores.
The RV is pretty tight sleeping corridors. We keep all the toys and books up top in bins for the kids if we need them during long drives or long stays. If you have more RV questions, please ask away!
Look at those ski hills in the background! There were tons of extra trails around the bike trail that you could go off into the hills and run, hike or bike. Check out all the trails on https://www.alltrails.com/us/idaho/sun-valley
FAVORITE HIKE
Proctor Mountain Trail - 4.2 mile trail, 1,022 feet elevation. The trails are right behind us in this picture, you can get to them from the bike/walking paths. It’s about a 1/2 mile past the Sun Valley Golf Club.
Good night from Sun Valley, ID - a perfect location to bike into town, explore a mountain city and still sleep under the stars in a desolate campground. Can you ask for more?
