Telluride, CO - in the summer

Telluride Town Park Campground

Telluride is a gorgeous city but it is difficult to get to which makes it that much more fun when you MAKE IT there! We stayed right down the street from downtown at the Telluride Town Park Campground. This campground is the PERFECT location as you can walk right into town and you are walking distance from the river Cornet Creek which flows into the San Miguel River. This campsite does have electric, but no water hookup so it’s sort of like roughing it but not 100% roughing it. We stayed here for a couple of nights and took advantage of the bike trails that connect to the campground and go in either direction.

You can also WALK to the community Telluride pool https://www.telluride-co.gov/185/Pool which cost $8 for adults and $4 for children and was a perfect day time activity overlooking these gorgeous mountains. They had this small kid area for little toddlers but they also had two larger slides for the kids that are old enough to pass the swim test, which my 6 and 8 year old were able to do.

I was able to ride from the campground on a path all the way to Bridal Veil Falls which is only about 3 miles away. You can then take the path up 365 feet and 1.8 miles long if you want to go to highest point of the path. There is a hiking path and a bike/road path that will lead you to the top.

This is walking steps from the campground with the river behind us and a kids playground area with picnic tables and walking paths in every direction. It is very family friendly!

This is the lovely river right next to the campground and this is the bottle of tequila that kept my husband and I sane during this 2 month RV trip on the road, while working full time and taking care of 3 kids!!!

We love campsites that you can walk or bike downtown because we do NOT tow a vehicle and it’s a pain in the you know what to unplug everything and drive the RV into town. So this was an added bonus that we could get downtown from the campground and enjoy all of the restaurants with indoor or outdoor seating. We make the older two bike and then we strap our youngest on the front of my husband’s bike to get around. We go slow, but the kids can usually make it pretty far with a lot of stops and snacks along the way.

Telluride is an adorable town that really picked up steam as the night went on. We obviously didn’t make it out late with the kids, but I’m hoping to go back sometime and see the nightlife as the energy seemed to be increasing as it got darker out!

A few other things we did not pictured here included riding the very FREE cable car up to the top of the mountain, which has a restaurant and different hikes at the top. There are also hikes that start about 2 blocks from downtown that I ventured to one morning alone. I did turn around because it said mountain lions were in the area, however if I wasn’t alone I probably would have ventured further. There’s a kid’s pump track and other bike trails you can get to from downtown. There’s a lot to do in this adorable town and if you have any questions or feedback do not hesitate to reach out!
